Standing up for inclusive parking
Official figures show that 18% of adult Britons do not have a smart phone. That rises to 61% among the over-70's.
But you must have a smart phone to park a car in Catford or Beckenham Place Park; none of the car parks take cash. It's possible to pay for parking at some shops but you'll need a smartphone with internet access to find them.
"It's all very convenient for the Council" says Catford campaigner Diana Cashin "but not so clever for anyone who doesn't have a smart phone." Diana is taking the problem up with Lewisham Council who so far have been indifferent.
