The Conservatives have called a snap General Election because they want you to support their Hard Brexit. Meanwhile Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party are in a mess and are in no position to prevent a Conservative majority.

The only way to prevent a Conservative majority is by voting Liberal Democrat.

The Liberal Democrats are the real opposition to the Conservative Brexit Government and the only party fighting for a Britain that is open, tolerant and united.

In Lewisham, we have three constituencies. You can find out a bit about each of the Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidates for all three below.

Bobby Dean (Lewisham Deptford)

Bobby first arrived in the area as a student at Goldsmiths in New Cross. His dad a scaffolder and mum a cleaner, he was the first in his family to make it to University.

After nine years in the area, he’s now living in Lewisham and is passionate about standing up for the whole community. Bobby thinks we need more politicians who have real life experience of the tough issues.

As a member of ‘Generation Rent’, Bobby has campaigned for better rights for renters and more affordable homes.

Bobby spoke up for Millwall Football Club when threatened by Labour-run Lewisham Council.

He works for a charity helping young people in Africa and Asia and believes in a Britain that is open, tolerant and united with the world.

He wants to stand up for that vision and has hope that, in this election, we can change Britain’s future.

Emily Frith (Lewisham East)

Emily is passionate about equality for mental health care. She has worked for charities in education,
mental health and social exclusion.

She also worked on mental health reforms in Government, including on a £1.4bn investment
programme for children’s mental health.

Emily lives in Lewisham and has been working to improve local transport links. She has recently lobbied for more train services in our area as well as extending the Bakerloo line to Catford.

Emily and the Liberal Democrats campaigned for the one-hour bus fare which has now been introduced as the ‘Hopper Fare’. She is also calling for safer roads for pedestrians and cyclists
including safer cycle routes in the borough.

Emily is campaigning against the Conservatives’ extreme Brexit and for a more open, tolerant and united Britain.

John Russell (Lewisham West & Penge)

John and his family have lived in Forest Hill for 15 years.

He is Chair of Wide Horizons, a national charity that provides life-changing outdoor education and adventure to 50,000 children and young people each year.

John served as a councillor for Forest Hill for four years. He helped to get Forest Hill pools saved and rebuilt. He remains a leading figure in his community and was instrumental in helping to
save Forest Hill Library, which he now helps to run as a volunteer.

John is currently campaigning to save our direct train services to East Croydon.

After a series of major water leaks, John successfully called on Lewisham Council to use its powers to summon Thames Water to a hearing.

Following its own review into incidents in London, Thames Water will invest an additional £97 million before 2020.
