Lewisham Lib Dem councillors respond to NHS consultation

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 7th Apr 2008

Lewisham's 17-strong Liberal Democrat councillor group have submitted a 'none of the above' response to the 'A Picture Of Health' consultation on proposed cuts to NHS hospital services in southeast London.

The group's request to not proceed with any of the options in the local grouping of Primary Care Trusts' consultation document stems from a deep concern as to the impact of the proposals on the availability and access to local healthcare, and the ability of residents in the four boroughs concerned to attend specialist care in another borough.

Concerns centre around insufficient emergency cover and maternity services, a failure to assess the impact of the changes on health inequalities and the adverse environmental impact of the new hospital arrangements.
