The new poll shows Nick Clegg's Liberal Democrats ahead of Labour
An Ipsos Mori survey released today puts the Conservatives on 36% (down 7), Labour on 24% (down 2) and the Liberal Democrats on 25% (up 8).
This is first time that this polling company have shown Labour to be in third place in a poll since 1982 and is in line with other recent polls showing a decline in support for Labour and a rise in Lib Dem share.
"Our rising support in opinion polls shows how well the public are responding to Nick Clegg and the Lib Dem message," said Lib Dem Lewisham West & Penge parliamentary spokesman Alex Feakes. "It is in line with what our own canvassing here is telling us. As one of the Lib Dems' top 50 seats against Labour, this poll shows we're in with a chance of pulling off a shock result on General Election day."
