If you press the button in an emergency, nothing happens. John Russell is calling for this to be fixed urgently.
The emergency help point outside WHSmith at Forest Hill station has been broken for a long time and no-one will take responsibility for maintaining it. Forest Hill's Liberal Democrat councillor John Russell has called on Lewisham Council and Transport for London to work together to get to the bottom of the mystery.
His comments follow the concerns of local residents and the Police who have all been unable to get the broken Help Point fixed. Nobody knows who is responsible for it - despite repeated enquiries.
In response to a question Cllr Russell asked to Full Council about the help point, Lewisham Council has admitted that they have no idea who owns it.
John Russell said, "I am shocked that no-one seems to know who is responsible for operating this emergency help point. When residents see an emergency help point they expect it to be working. With this one you press the button and nothing happens. I hope that the Council and TfL, who have just taken over operational control of Forest Hill station, can get to the bottom of this mystery as soon as possible and get this fixed. Either TfL or the Council needs to take responsibility for this situation as soon as they can."
