Brian believes the LDA's report on the Leegate Shopping Centre is a missed opportunity
Local Lib Dem councillor Brian Robson has slammed the London Development Agency's report into a local shopping centre as "a missed opportunity."
The LDA report examines how seven south London town centres could be regenerated by adding more housing, but according to Councillor Robson, who represents one of the town centres, planners missed a trick by not talking to local people.
Lee Green councillor Brian Robson said, "As local councillors, we've been campaigning for the regeneration of the Leegate Shopping Centre and surrounding area since we were elected in 2006. We're currently working with local people to develop a community vision for the area. It's therefore disappointing that the LDA have published this report, which seems to have been written without any consultation with local people or their elected representatives.
"The LDA have missed a trick, because local people have lots of ideas for the area. The money that's been spent on this report could have helped us develop our community vision. As it is, the LDA have come up with some interesting ideas, but we don't know whether they've got community support, because they've not bothered to ask."
