David Edgerton wants the junction to be made safer for pedestrians
Lewisham Central councillor David Edgerton is calling on London's Mayor to make the junction of Court Hill Road and Lewisham High Street safer for pedestrians. The busy junction has a high volume of pedestrians crossing but does not have any 'Green Man' lights to assist them.
Lib Dem councillor David Edgerton said, "There are filter lights for vehicles at this junction, so pedestrians have to contend with traffic coming from four different directions. The difficult sight lines and high volume of traffic at this junction makes it extremely difficult for pedestrians to cross safely."
David believes that the junction is particularly dangerous during the rush hours and says that there is widespread support among local residents for action to be taken before there is a serious accident.
"This has been raised with me by several local residents. They point out that many school pupils cross here in the mornings and elderly shoppers have to contend with cars coming from every direction. TfL have said it does not need any safety measures; I disagree and want TfL to come and see for themselves how dangerous it is."
Cllr Edgerton has arranged for the matter to be raised at the next Mayor's Question Time in City Hall.
