Residents have complained about the noise from road humps
Residents of Whitefoot Lane have been barred from meeting council officials to discuss transport issues, Lewisham Liberal Democrats can reveal.
In a letter to Whitefoot councillor Dan Houghton, Lewisham's regeneration boss has refused to let his staff meet with local residents concerned about road humps. The humps were completed in 2006, with funding provided from Transport for London. However, since then local residents have complained about the constant vibration and noise that they have experienced due to the large number of HGV lorries that use Whitefoot Lane.
Cllr Dan Houghton said, "Residents deserve answers to their many questions about the humps on Whitefoot Lane. If council officers have statistics that they feel back up the need for speed humps, then they should be prepared to meet with residents and present their case. Sticking their heads in the sand is not the answer to this problem."
