Residents are being consulted about the future of Beckenham Place Park

At the start of a three week public survey into the future of Beckenham Place Park a call has been made by Downham Councillor Mark Morris for as many people as possible to take part in the consultation.

Councillor Mark Morris, who is chair of the Beckenham Place Working Party and whose ward covers much of the park, said:

"Beckenham Place Park is by far the biggest open space in Lewisham. It is a wonderful park, but it could be made even better and certainly enjoyed by far more people.

"At present despite the park's huge size a surprising number Lewisham residents do not even know about its existence. There are other people who know about the park but wrongly believe they are not entitled to visit and enjoy this beautiful open space.

"In the next few weeks it is absolutely vital that as many people as possible take part in the consultation. Nearby residents should be receiving a questionnaire in the post, but other residents can take part in the survey via council buildings such as libraries or through Lewisham Council's website.

"I would also encourage everyone who has not visited the park to do so. The park is beautiful at all times of the year, but especially in early Autumn."
