Lewisham Lib Dems Take to the Streets to Stop Climate Chaos

Lewisham Liberal Democrats have been out campaigning to highlight the dangers of climate change. Activists were in three local town centres recently giving out leaflets supporting the national Lib Dem Green Tax Switch campaign - shifting taxes to help stop climate change. Members also joined over 20,000 other campaigners on the recent Climate Change march finishing in Trafalgar Square.
Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Chris Maines said: "I was very impressed with the response in Lewisham High Street and Blackheath village. People were extremely keen to sign up for the Lib Dem Green Tax switch campaign. We want government to switch to taxing bad things like pollution and carbon emissions rather than good things like work."
Liberal Democrats want a fundamental change in the way Britain is taxed and to use the tax system to encourage people to change their behaviour to contribute towards safeguarding the planet.
Cllr Chris Maines believes climate chaos is the most serious issue in British politics. "We need immediate action to deal with climate chaos before it becomes climate catastrophe. I was pleased to see so many people join the Stop Climate Chaos march in London. There were people from all over the country and from all walks of life."
