Lewisham councillor Patsy Foreman is campaigning for a new bus to join Hither Green and Grove Park Railway Stations, which she says will serve residents who live in the area off Verdant Lane.

"The area is poorly served by buses and I think an existing route could be extended or a new bus could be introduced to help many residents. At present people wanting to get to a Station or to the Downham Library and Leisure Centre have a long walk or a struggle with buses that are often full," says Liberal Democrat Cllr Foreman.

The appointment of another Youth Spokesperson by Lewisham Labour Mayor has been branded a waste of public money by Liberal Democrat Chris Maines.

The Mayor announced at the Council AGM that he was appointing, in addition to a Cabinet Member for Children and Young People and a Young Mayor with a team of advisers, a new Cabinet position of Youth spokesman.

Cllr Chris Maines has urged Lewisham Council to treat with care a man who has been sleeping in self constructed camp on Blackheath. The man, believed to be from Afghanistan, has been in residence for several years.

"This person "lives" feet away from where the Ministry of Defence want to install a Rapier Missile system during the Olympic Games and yards away from the entrance of an Olympic venue." explains Cllr Maines. "I and others have been asking that this person is treated sympathetically, and found more suitable housing."
