Lee Green's Lib Dem Councillors are calling on Lewisham Council to give local residents all the options in the forthcoming Hither Green East Controlled Parking Zone consultation.
Residents in Fernbrook, Leahurst, and Longhurst Roads, Manor Park, Pascoe Road, Staplehurst Road, Weardale Road, or the short section of Ennersdale Road from the railway bridge to the junction with Leahurst will be consulted sometime in February by Lewisham on whether they would like a CPZ (Controlled Parking Zone) in their road.
Commenting, Cllr Paul Bentley said, "I live on Manor Park, so I'm aware that we have a problem with commuter parking in our area but once again Lewisham Council only plan to offer us their one-size-fits-all solution of an all day 9am until 7pm Monday to Friday CPZ."
Cllr Sven Griesenbeck added, "A two hour restriction would be enough to deter commuter parking, but in our opinion cause far less inconvenience for local residents, their visitors, and our shops."
Cllr Brian Robson said, "I would ask local residents who share our concerns to sign our online petition at
www.ourcampaign.org.uk/cpz We will also be calling round locally to ask residents for their supprt. We want residents to have all the options in the forthcoming consultation so we can get the result that's right for our area."
